1955 session of the National People's Congress Second Session of the Military Service Law of the People's Republic of China promulgated. Military Service Law stipulates: All male citizens over 18 years of age, regardless of their nationality, race, occupation, social origin, religion and education level, and has military service obligations; counterrevolutionaries and deprivation of political rights in a certain period of time in accordance with the law not military service. And the collection time and way, active duty, reservists and military personnel of the rights and obligations of specific provisions. March 7, 1978, meeting of the Fifth National People's Congress, approved by the State Council decision on the issue of military service. Decided instead of compulsory military service system which combines conscripts with volunteers.
