September 2.1997-Central American countries decided to establish a Central American Union

1997, the leaders of the Central American countries to hold a special summit meeting in Managua to discuss the further strengthening of regional integration issues. Signed Nicaragua declared the end of the meeting, decided to begin the formation of the "Central American Union. The statement that the Central America is a political, economic, social and cultural family, the people of all countries have a common history and language, which is the basis of the establishment of the Central American Union. The statement pointed out that the only joint in order to take full advantage of the wealth of the region, to deal with the enormous challenges of the next century. Documents signed by the President of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
